Yard Work…

Meticulous lawn, fertilizer, airation, first on the block with the greenest lawn. These are all things that do NOT describe me or my lawn, much to my wife’s dismay. Truth be told, there are few things in this world that I like less than yard work. I don’t know what it is. It could be the fact that my father made me mow at an early age, matter of fact…yeah…let’s let that be the reason. Which is why I couldn’t be happier to pass this green torch on to my oldest son, Hunter. I now have a new appreciation for child labor. Thanks Dad for showing me the way!

Anais & Matt Wedding

He was making the rounds with the guests. She was getting ready to make her entrance. He was on his phone anxious to see his beautiful bride when, all of a sudden, an umbrella peaked over the hill and around the bend came Anais to a ravenous applause. The sun was like a giant spotlight illuminating Matt’s bride as she made her way to him. This was where he was meant to be, where he wanted to be. She couldn’t have been happier or more alive.

I’ve been blessed with my recent weddings I’ve had the opportunity to photograph. Ultimately, it’s about the people and the people I’ve had the fortune to capture have been amazing people. Anais and Matt’s love for one another was palpable and the love FOR them by their guests was equally as touching.  The other great surprise at this wedding were the kids. These were some of the cutest kids I’ve ever seen!

Anais and Matt, thank you for giving me the opportunity to photograph your most special day. It truly was an honor to be invited into your lives on this day. :-) Below are some of my favorites. For more check out the slide show!

Casey & Friends…

“Flurries and cold this Friday evening leading into Saturday,” was the forecast for a very important Saturday photo shoot originally scheduled for outside. After several e-mail’s back and forth with Marcy we decided we could just photograph around her house and we’d make the best of it. Saturday morning came and I anxiously peered outside expecting the worst and got the best. Partly cloudy skies and not a snow flake to be found!

As I got to Marcy’s house she greeted me with a hug (it’s great getting to catch up with old friends). Kevin, her husband, was on the couch feeding their new baby girl, Casey. We were all pleasantly surprised by the weather and decided to resume with our original plan of a family photo setting at a beautiful outside location.

Casey, as you will see below, is one of the cutest baby’s you’ll ever see. Her cheeks are so big you want to just squeeze them all day. She was so mild mannered that she made my job that much easier. To be that cute and well behaved is a photographer’s dream.

I had the privilege of working with Marcy when I was at Saunders Construction. It was because of people like her that made my leaving Saunders so difficult. I’m thankful that my photography is just one way in which I can continue to stay in contact with old friends. Below are some of my favorites from the session. Thank you Marcy, Kevin and Casey for a wonderful Saturday! :-)

Autumn Fun

It was a warm overcast Saturday in November as the Linder family headed north to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Three of their favorite things were waiting for them. Homemade Belgian waffles, freshly raked leaves, and a local craft fair. It started with brunch and the boys ate their fill to be well energized for the festivities that lie ahead. It wasn’t the fantastic flavor of brunch that caused the boys to wolf down their meal this time. It was the giant pile of leaves that Grandpa had raked in the back yard that was screaming their names. As the men boys went out back to work play. The ladies hit up the local craft fair at the local high school.

This has been an annual tradition for our family since the boys were just babies. Here are some of my favorites from the day. Click on the thumbnails to see the bigger pictures.

Anticipation…Hops…Buried…This isn’t going to be good…Told you so!You might want to think twice little man!Game on!Take this Grandpa!Let me show you boys how it’s really done!Where’d Coy go?!?This’ll learn ya!Apparently not…How about a leaf swirley, Grandpa?!?Where do you think you boys are going?!!Um…I’m a little itchy…Maybe next year…

Football, Football, and a Little More Football

I love football season. More so this year since two of my boys are playing flag football. I’m actually coaching Coy’s team, my middle son. Today started with an 8:30am game up in Highlands Ranch. I wasn’t sure about coaching football especially since I like being able to photograph the games, but it’s been a great experience and I’ve had the pleasure of coaching some wonderful boys. Hopefully I’ll be able to swing taking some pictures of my team…stay tuned!

From there we went straight to Logan’s game. I rented a 300mm lens to go with my Nikon D200 to photograph our local high school team (more on that later). Although, I’ve posted pictures of Logan playing already, I’ve got to post some more because, well…it’s MY blog! ;-) Plus my parents are out of town visiting my Grandma for her 85th birthday (Happy B-Day Grandma) and I’m sure they want to see their grandson! Here are some of my favorites.

Off to the Races…Catch me if you can…Oh no you don’t!Told you so!Let me show you how it’s done!Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed…Ummm…That’s NOT my flag!Team Work

Finally, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing our local high school football team, the Douglas County Huskies, the past 3 years. Today they faced off against the Range View Raiders, my wife’s alma mater. They put a shellacking to the Raiders by putting up 48 points to their 36 (sorry sweetie). The score makes the game look much closer than it was. The fourth quarter was played primarily by the second and third stringers. The Huskies booster club, the Huskies Quarterback Club, has hired me to photograph just the seniors. At the end of their season they have a banquet and all the seniors get 20×30 posters of them playing. Below is a sample of a possible format for each of the senior’s posters. The Huskies are now 4-0 heading into their homecoming game this coming Friday against Regis. Go HUSKIES!!

Tomorrow the Broncos play…I won’t be photographing that one, but I will be in front of the TV watching!

Granddaughters Re-mix

I posted some static images of this photo shoot earlier, but the images were more out of a test to see how the overlay script worked when clicking on an image. I know, I know…shut up with the geek speak and show me the photos. Well, I just came across an AWESOME site that creates high production quality slide shows with images and I just had to use this photo shoot as my first attempt at it. I knew the perfect song and I couldn’t wait to see what they came up with. I think you’ll be impressed and you’ve got to try it for yourself. You can sign up for free for 30 second slide shows, pay $3.00 for an individual full length video, or pay $30.00 per year for unlimited full length videos. It’s just so cool what you can do with digital photography and we’re just starting to scratch the surface. It appears that right now I’m only able to get the slide show to work in the Firefox browser. If you don’t have it you can get it here for free. I’m working on getting it to work in Explorer.

**Update: 09.25.07: This is now working in Explorer. Working with the gentlemen over at Animoto they informed me of a workaround to get the movie to play in a Word Press blog when viewed in Explorer. I’m telling you, these guys have a great product and even better customer service. Give em a try!

OK, enough techno-babble, this photo shoot deserves some better coverage anyway so, I’m glad to re-visit it. As I posted earlier, Julie, the girl’s grandmother in this photo shoot, used to teach PE with my dad. It really is amazing that she knew me when I was her grand daughters’ ages in these photos. It makes this photo shoot that much more special. Being able to photograph children is always an honor. Getting to do it for such a longtime personal friend of the family is truly a blessing.

Enjoy the video!

Go Chiefs Beat the Broncos!!

OK…There’s only ONE way I can justify that statement being a native of Colorado and a proud Broncos fan…My youngest son is playing flag football for the Chiefs. I know, I know, sacrilege, but at least it’s not the Raiders! I would have had to pull him from the program if that were the case! ;-) This was Logan’s first game…EVER. There is nothing more fun than watching a bunch of seven years olds run around a field trying to pull each other’s flags. :-) This is what got me started in photography; my kids. Here are some images of my youngest playing football. I hope you enjoy. :-)

Granddaughters

A couple of weekends ago I was asked to photograph two beautiful little girls. The significance of this photo shoot was that these little girls were the granddaughters of Julie and Wolfgang. Julie taught school with my father when he first moved out to Colorado. I was around these girls ages at that time! Very surreal and very cool how things come full circle. We just hung out in the backyard and played. What a thrill it was!
